The Big Lunch

The Big Lunch initiative created by the Eden Project Charity, was designed to encourage community gatherings helping to prevent loneliness and social isolation of the vulnerable.

Since its inception in 2009, Big Lunch events have taken place across more than 70 commonwealth countries, most notably during the 2022 Platinum Jubilee when over 200,000 Big Lunches were held with over a total of over 17 million participants.

How does the Big Lunch relate to my Coronation event?

There is no set guide on what constitutes a Big Lunch, it could be as big or small as you like, meaning it can be easily incorporated into a coronation street party or any similar event.

The underlying principle is simply gathering with friends and neighbours, sharing a meal and raising both awareness and funds for a chosen charitable cause, typically one that focuses on addressing issues within your local community.

Treasure Hunt - Set a minimum donation amount for people to take part, put your guests into teams (a great ice breaker) and by following various clues, participants will compete to find the amazing treasure.
